As spring arrives, so do your best intentions and your motivation to be active again. Wellbeing and fitness are guaranteed ... if you get the right advice!

As we all know, good intentions are not always enough and sometimes, after a few weeks of often overdosed efforts, they melt away like snow in the sun. The solution? Choose an emblematic club, efficient techniques and a gentle tool to (re)start our fitness journey. And this spring, the beginner that I am chose Apria and ... the Kettlebell! Add to that the coaching of a real specialist in the field and fitness is (soon) achieveable!

In Brussels, at Aspria Avenue Louise, Royal La Rasante or Art Loi, whether you are a beginner, a newcomer or a regular, there is no shortage of choice if you want to put these good intentions into practice. High-performance techniques, varied equipment and tools, spacious rooms or impressive outdoor spaces with all-around welcoming and highly qualified staff - everything you need to become fit for the summer. And this spring, for me it will be: direction Aspria Art Loi and Kettlebell with Santo!

What is the Kettlebell?

A tool to be used on the basis of a first information coaching (thanks Santo !), the kettlebell is a cast iron ball of different weights (4 to 32 kg). It has a manual handle to carry it with one or two hands and a flat bottom to put it on the floor. A precious and indispensable tool in every fitness room, it is a dumbbell that accompanies, gently or forcefully, the evolution of the 7 body movements. Easy to use, this dumbbell is suitable for beginners as well as for regulars, depending on their own progress and the objectives set. A true accomplice to spring fitness as well as to the maintenance of any body thus put back on the rails of the "good" daily mobility.

Supporting the 7 basic movements of the body

From the outset Santo, efficient and available, teaches us that the body is structured around 7 different movements:

1. push

2. pull

3. squat

4. hinge (bending at the hip hinge)

5. lunge (leg forward)

6. twist

7. gait (walking, locomotion with load).

Each of these movements is reinforced by the reach of the Kettlebell. From 4 kg, the Kettlebell is effective for beginners or simply to strenthen muscles and relearn to move with a correct form. Very light at the beginning, heavier thereafter if desired by the user, this dumbbell accompanies a number of movements and is, in the end, an optimal way to regain a taste for physical activity and, above all, to move efficiently and safely in all everyday movements.

The benefits of functional training

The Kettlebell is therefore an integral part of functional training, perfect for getting back into shape but also for maintaining a good level of mobility and comfort in life.

Losing confidence when moving, having repetitive back pain, postural problems, being limited to putting your arms over your head or turning your hips to sit on the floor are not inevitable consequences of aging. Training the body's functions means, above all, staying young longer.

No wonder functional training is one of the 5 fitness trends that will revolutionize the way we work out in 2023.

The result of this trial session: a fun but also effective workout, given the strong, familiar sensation I felt across all muscle groups. As with any type of training, Santo advises me to vary the type of workout to keep my motivation high. Next week, I'll try a group class!
